Your new company
Our client is one of the largest water distributors/retailers in Australia. They are owned by five shareholding councils. Moreover, they are providing services to 1. 5 million residents. They are seeking for an environmental officer that can provide scientific input in sampling and analysing a wide variety of water, wastewater, and environmental samples.
Your new role
As the environmental officer, you will be performing field duties including non-routine bottle preparation, sampling, and analysis in accordance with documented methods.
Other more accountabilities:
Perform field duties including routine and non-routine bottle preparation, sampling and analysis in accordance with documented methods and the requirements of the laboratory’s NATA accreditation
Work autonomously and in a team environment to provide timely sampling and analytical results.
Provide scientific input during response to environmental incidents
Enter data on the Laboratory Information Management System, including sample registration and pre-logging of jobs to ensure smooth and efficient despatch of samplers
Calibrate and maintain field and laboratory instruments in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and NATA requirements
Deliver the highest standards of service to our customers by safe handling of samples, materials and equipment, with a focus on individual, team, and customer safety.
Interact with customers and the general public in potentially challenging circumstances.
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally, you have knowledge of applying procedures for sampling preservation and analysis techniques. Moreover, you have knowledge of laboratory procedures in performing microbiological and/ or chemical analysis.
Other more desirables:
Tertiary qualification in science or equivalent experience
Experience in aquatic ecology, water, and wastewater
“C” class licence
