About the roleThis position provides Technical Support for the range of programs offered within North Metro TAFE and maintains the related laboratories, studios, Kitchens and workshops to ensure the efficient operation of all practical classes and the achievement of the relevant Portfolio’s objectives.
We are specifically looking for staff to support the Engineering, Civil Construction and Civil Infrastructure, Residential Construction and Trades, Integrated Technology & Automation, Science Resources & Greenskills, Art and Design, Hospitality, Culinary Arts & Personal Services, Health and Nursing Portfolios.
To be successful in this role you will have experience in one or more areas within a workshop, Studio, laboratory or kitchen and/or relative industry experience such as but not limited to, Automotive, Fitting and Machining, Heavy Fabrication, Light Fabrication, Building and Construction (e.g. Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, bricklaying tiling, plastering etc), Science, Electronics or Robotics or Culinary Arts and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- maintain a high level of customer focus by providing assistance to lecturers and students during formal classes, student access, enrolments and other times as required, as well as maintaining and displaying the technician timetable for operating hours if required;
- operate and maintains a range of equipment and material stocks relevant to the area of responsibility;
- prepares, monitors and maintains equipment and material stocks safely complying with NM TAFE and Occupational Health & Safety guidelines, procedures and legislation
- convey accurate information regarding technical equipment and process requirements to staff and students including training students in the safe operation of machinery and equipment as required.
