Murray River Council is looking for an experienced Tourism Marketing and Events Officer to join our highly
motivated and dedicated Economic Development and Tourism team. The successful candidate will have
strong tourism, marketing, relationship building and project management skills to successfully promote the
Visit River Country destination and support and grow the local tourism industry.

*** Opportunity available for a second position: 

Economic Development Officer - 12 month fixed term. 

Key Responsibilities
 The growth and development of the tourism industry within the Murray River Council area.
 The promotion of the destination and attraction of visitors to the area.
 Assisting in the various activities of the economic development and tourism team, as required,
including community development, economic development and tourism projects.
 Develop and implement a comprehensive Visit River Country Marketing Strategy.
 Support the local tourism industry to grow and develop.
 Assist in the attraction, development, delivery and promotion of tourism events.
 Undertake market research and analysis.
 Work with various tourism partners to deliver outcomes for our community.

What do you need to be successful?
 Tertiary qualifications in marketing, tourism or relevant field
 Previous experience in a tourism development role, event management, Marketing and/or project
management
 Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft suite, database, CRM
 Exceptional skills in maintaining website and social media platforms
 Excellent people skills, and written and verbal communication skills
 Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, judgement, confidentiality, tact and discretion, when
dealing with a broad cross-section of people.
 Knowledge and understanding of corporate communications, marketing, advertising, promotions,
media, printing and graphic design.
 Experience working as part of a highly motivated and dedicated team
 Current Australian motor vehicle licence
