We are excited to be partnering with the Moira Shire Council in sourcing a Town Planner for their team. As a Town Planner, you will contribute to establishing and implementing strategic visions and plans for land use and development within Moira Shire. Responsibilities include processing planning applications, providing expert advice based on research and legislation, and representing Council's interests to state and regional authorities. You'll prepare reports, attend hearings, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
- Process statutory planning applications in compliance with relevant legislation, Council policies, and procedures.
- Represent Council's interests to State and Regional authorities effectively.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and handle applications in accordance with planning and subdivision laws.
- Conduct site inspections and coordinate with relevant stakeholders during application investigations.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to a cohesive team approach focused on enhancing customer satisfaction and delivering quality service.
- Support the Manager Planning in improving service delivery through the development of systems and procedures.
- Attend VCAT and Panel Hearings, prepare reports, and represent Council at planning-related meetings.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Planning or related field + 3 years' experience
- Strong communication/customer service skills
- Expertise in relevant legislation
- Experience presenting planning recommendations
- Proficiency in Victorian planning system
- Skilled in community consultation
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team
