The Role
This role provides guidance and advice on key activities within the Rockcote business, developing and supporting our Training and Safety framework. By coordinating engaging and effective training sessions and evaluating training outcomes you will ensure competency and consistency across our standards and processes.
The ideal candidate will also possess a strong understanding of WHS principles and practices to build the culture of Safety First through the development and implementation of initiatives and activities and overseeing Rockcote’s Safety Management System with the ultimate objective to achieve zeroHarm.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to;
- Assisting with re-developing our on-boarding process of new employees, including WHS site induction and training program.
- Researching and coordinating Training and development pipelines across our operations teams.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the company’s Health and Safety management system, preparing a safety improvement plan.
- Assisting our Leaders with developing and writing Safe Operating Procedures & Training Plans to ensure safety compliance across the business.
- Identifying training gaps and supporting the development of training programs in conjunction with the People & Culture department.
- Collecting & analysing data to optimise future training programs, with a focus on measuring ROI.
- Facilitating Safety Standards Training (i.e. Lockout Officer, Permit Issuer).
- Measure, analyse and report on health and Safety key metrics. Hold Safety Committee meetings.
- Assisting and supporting Leaders with safety incident investigations, including corrective and preventative measures.
- Ensuring SHE functions are kept up to date and collaborating with leaders and supervisors to execute consistent and planned SHE outcomes.
- Coordinating injury management and return to work rehabilitation activities, including liaising with external providers and worker to return to full duties.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of health & safety legislation and new initiatives to integrate relevant updates into training programs.
- Ensuring sufficient personal protective equipment supplies are available, including high visibility uniforms and re-stock on a regular basis.
- Booking new starter employment medicals, and periodic silica monitoring medical appointments.
- Arranging regular monitoring of environmental factors, including air quality monitoring
About You
You must be able to demonstrate the following experience, abilities, and personal attributes:
Qualifications/Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Rehabilitation / Return to work or Injury management experience.
- Experience in facilitating RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and ICAM investigations (Incident Cause Analysis Method).
- The ability to conduct risk assessments.
- Demonstrated experience leading & promoting a safety culture in a complex & diverse environment.
- Experience in WHS auditing.
Skills and abilities
- Knowledge of & the ability to interpret WHS legislation, policies, & procedures.
- Experience in the development of preventative strategies to minimise WHS risks in the workplace.
- A professional & proactive approach to all aspects of Workplace Health & Safety, and provide high level advice across all levels & departments within the company.
- Assess problem situations to identify causes, generate possible solutions, & make recommendations.
- A strong attention to detail, organised in completing tasks & able to present clear & reliable information.
- Understand ethical behaviour and ensure that own behaviour and the behaviour of others is consistent and aligns with the values of the Company.
- Experienced in Microsoft office suit (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
- Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance teamwork.
