Project Overview
Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC) was founded in 1977 and since that time, has been leading the industry through developing critical national infrastructure globally in over 50 countries. A leader in the Korean rail industry, HRC has succeeded in developing high-speed trains, and is now establishing their presence in the Australian market.
Currently, the Australian Branch Office of HRC is working on two major projects:
- The New Intercity Fleet (NIF) Project – as part of a joint venture with UGL and MEA, this project is delivering a fleet of new intercity trains for operation in the NSW electrified rail network. The fleet comprises of 55 Long Units and 70 Short Units for the Newcastle, Blue Mountains, South Coast and Central Coast Lines; and
- The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) – commissioning, design and construction of a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea (QLD) and a new maintenance facility in Ormeau (QLD). It includes manufacturing and delivering 65 EMU Train Sets (390 cars) by the end of 2031.
Combined local and global engineering design teams and suppliers will work together to ensure the delivery of manufacturing requirements and documentation to ensure that train sets manufactured locally in Australia meet the design specifications, compliance, manufacturability, reliability, maintainability and safety for the trains operational life for a minimum of 35 years.

Role Overview
Develop, implement and deliver technical and compliance training to employees and internal and external stakeholders across all HRC Australia sites as required that meets Rail Safety and Employment Standard requirements. Conduct training needs analysis’s, identify skills gaps, create and conduct training packages, (in accordance with safety and legislative requirements) and evaluate effectiveness of programs to ensure compliance and continuous improvement within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop comprehensive training packages both for technical and compliance training tailored for specific roles and departments
- Carry out onboarding, technical and compliance training, including providing hands on training and practical demonstrations pertaining to equipment operation, maintenance and safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards
- Build and maintain competency matrix for technical staff, operation and management
- Review and amend existing training packages
- Review and identify skills gaps across the business
- Identify training needs, create training plans, and deliver effective training packages
- Collaborate with the Training & Safety staff to maximise the effectiveness of the program delivery
- Reporting as required
- Drive continuous improvement activities
Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements
- A degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Certification in technical training, or specific railway industry certification
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA40104)
- Proven experience in delivering technical training programs, including developing training materials, conducting training sessions, and assessing trainee performance
- Extensive experience in the rail industry
- In-depth knowledge of rolling stock systems

Additional Information
This position is based onsite at our North Ryde office and will require travel to locations within NSW and interstate.
