Cheltenham Recreation Clubis a 110-year-old sports club which has four sections comprised of Bowls, Croquet, Tennis and soon Real Tennis with a facility shortly to be built. This new facility will give the Club an opportunity of offering ‘On the Court’ Pickle ball, Pilates and Yoga as well. The CRC has around 200 playing members and another 150 social members. The Club has active strategies in place to support and grow this membership through community links and visitors and looking for someone to drive this growth. The Club sits on four acres land with picturesque views from the club house and café across the four bowling and croquet greens and 6 (4 with lights) tennis courts. The Club is beautifully situated on landscaped free hold land with a wonderful sunny aspect, only 3 minutes walk from Cheltenham railway station.
Cheltenham Recreation Club (CRC) is seeking an experienced manager to come on board as our Venue Manager who looking for their next hospitality management challenge.
About the Role: We are currently seeking an experienced Manager. The Venue Manager manages all aspects of the venue including its activities and the relationships between leaders, CRC, members, guests, employees, community, government, and industry. This involves a collaborative approach and leadership to organisational, cultural, and structural change, service innovation, sustainability, operational efficiencies with special attention given to food and beverage, maximising member satisfaction, and business intelligence. This person will inspire a high-performance culture. The venue operating hours are majority during daylight hours,7 days, with the exception for events and functions. The roster will require flexibility across weekdays and weekends.
Key priorities of the role will be:
- Strategy: Manage all aspects of CRC’s future direction in working toward current business plans and be involved in the strategic planning, reporting and business development. Oversees the development and successful implementation of all marketing and member relations programs.
- People Leadership: Be hands on and directly responsible for performance, direction and succession planning of all employees. Ensure all staff are appropriately trained and hold all licenses and applicable certificates for their role.
- Operational Performance: Ensure that sustainable, customer focused, quality services and be involved with the delivery of these when required to meet the needs of the community and provide an outstanding experience for all members and guests.
- Financial Management: To ensure financial and asset management is secure and ongoing through implementing and monitoring all financial and legal standards. Implement, achieve and monitor all budgets and KPIs.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with all internal and external key stakeholders including but not limited to CRC’s Chairperson and other key CRC stakeholders.
- Reporting: Provide relevant financial management reports and strategic recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Compliance: Uphold and satisfy compliance with required legislation, Codes, and practice Responsible Service of Alcohol.
- Security: Ensure the safe, secure, and accurate handling of cash across all operational areas including EFTPOS and tills.
- Workplace Health & Safety: Actively support a range of activities in accordance with Work, Health & Safety legislation obligations. Ensure compliance wherever necessary including all relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
The successful Candidate will have the following attributes:
- Experience in Hospitality
- Relevant tertiary training in hospitality would be highly regarded
- Expertise in service excellence, managing food, beverage, events operations
- People person and passionate leader
- Good conceptual ability and strategic thinking
- Previous experience of managing an operating budget with P&L responsibilities
