Vice-President Engagement and Chief Marketing Officer


Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Vice-President Engagement and Chief Marketing Officer to join the Chancellery Division.

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the Vice-President Engagement Chief Marketing Officer is accountable for significantly lifting brand awareness, student recruitment and stakeholder engagement, in support of the University’s goals and ambitions. With a creative mindset, the successful applicant will be responsible for leading the university’s overall engagement strategy on both local and international fronts. This strategic focus is centred on student attraction, positioning and engagement. This position places a strong emphasis on fostering QUT’s vibrant and unique student experience, and effectively promoting this to current and future students. Additionally, the role involves managing QUT’s corporate position, brand, and outreach efforts.

Within the Chancellery Division, the Vice-President Engagement and Chief Marketing Officer leads a portfolio which strives to elevate QUT’s profile through strategic and impactful communication and engagement. The portfolio holds a critical role leading QUT’s corporate communications, overall marketing and branding strategy, and international outreach.

What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or experience equivalent to a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline combined with extensive relevant experience in marketing and communications.
  • Proven experience in providing exceptional strategic leadership and direction in a complex organisation, demonstrating the ability to align organisational goals with market trends and industry demand.
  • Exceptional leadership and management capabilities and demonstrated high achievement at an executive level in a large organisation, including proven ability to lead and manage teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading the transformation and implementation of marketing and brand strategies, with a focus on elevating brand awareness and driving student recruitment through innovative and effective campaigns.
  • Proficiency in conducting critical analysis at organisation-wide and departmental levels, utilising data and insights to inform decision-making and strategy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to establish and maintain sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This includes stakeholders such as government entities, industry partners, media, alumni, and the wider community to enhance the university’s profile and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrated leadership and skill in delivering high-quality advice and support to executive leaders to safeguard and elevate the university’s reputation, including the ability to navigate complex communication challenges through insightful counsel.
