The Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia contributes to the promotion and success of South Australia’s primary industry through the staging of events. Events include the Royal Adelaide Show, agriculture and horticulture exhibitions, education programs and other corporate & public events.
The Opportunity:
The WHS Manager will oversee the management, planning, and implementation of workplace health and safety initiatives within the society. As a key advocate for workplace health and safety, you will prioritise enhancing awareness and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and safe workplace practices. The WHS Manager will function as an integral member of the Showground, contributing to the operational objectives of the society while promoting its commitment to supporting primary industry in South Australia as a not-for-profit association.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor the society’s WHS plans.
- Integrate systems and processes for WHS management that meet legislative obligations and reflect industry best practices.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of WHS legislation and ensure management awareness of responsibilities.
- Conduct WHS incident investigations.
- Communicate and report WHS matters including incidents, to regulatory authorities.
- Manage injuries and return-to-work programs.
- Analyse events at a high level and recommend safety improvements.
- Drive initiatives for improving health and safety in the workplace.
- Manage the development of Emergency Response Plans.
- Represent the society during third-party audits.
- Develop policies and provide advice to staff on WHS issues.
- Attend events when necessary based on WHS management or the need for senior personnel.
- Certificate IV in WHS.
- 5 years experience in WHS - highly desirable.
- Comprehensive knowledge of WHS legislation and systems.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and monitor health and safety systems.
- Ability to interpret policy and legislation.
- Working With Children Check.
- Comfortable interacting with stakeholders of all levels.
- Managerial experience preferred but not essential.
- Ability to plan and develop policy while maintaining processes.
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment and independently.
