We are committed to growing Australia's shipbuilding and sustainment capability and we want you to grow your career with us.Navantia Australia have an exciting opportunity for a WHS&E Advisor to join the team based out of our Garden Island Defence Precinct and Sydney office. You will be part of the Human Resources department supporting the company's naval sustainment and design business. As the WHSE Advisor you will play a critical role in Navantia Australia promoting and enhancing a safe working environment. As the successful candidate, you will be flexible in your approach as you will be working across several projects with differing demands and often conflicting timeframes. You will be liaising with staff, contractors and Defence members on a daily basis, so exceptional communication and being a team player is imperative to ensure best practice in WHSE. The role may require interstate travel to meet business requirements. In this role, you will: Support managers and team members in all WHSE related matters. Report and investigate incidents and hazards and coordinate corrective actions. Coordinate all Return to Work requirements, including in other jurisdictions. Coordinate all WHSE inductions and training as required. Represent the business as required at interested party consultative meetings. Coordinate and conduct site WHSE inspections. Coordinate WHSE aspects of contractor management. Assist in maintaining WHSE management and reporting systems such as the Wiki and Sentinel. Act as Project Safety Officer, including liaison with RAN SPOs (Ships Project Offices) during maintenance periods, including risk assessments; hazard and incident reporting; investigation and corrective actions; coordination of SWMS and chemicals; and WHSE inspections. Develop and implement an annual plan for emergency training and internal audits. Participate in ISO 45001:2018 reaccreditation program. Communicate WHSE initiatives, strategies to all staff. Promote a positive safety culture across the business. Other ad hoc tasks applicable to the position. As the ideal candidate, you will have: Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (Diploma or higher desirable) Return to Work Coordinator Lead Auditor – WHS Incident Investigation – ICAM or similar (Desirable). Certificate IV Training and Assessment – TAE (Desirable). Extensive experience in WHSE, with a sound knowledge of legislation across multiple jurisdictions. Incident and hazard reporting, investigation, corrective actions, and trend analysis. Sound knowledge and understanding of ISO 45001:2018. Working with safety and return to work regulators. Outstanding teamwork, flexibility, and resilience in a dynamic industry. Demonstrated quality and confident oral and written communication skills. Ability to use standard office software programs and learn specialised programs Eg: Sentinel. Experience in Defence or maritime (Desirable).
