Yawoorroong Miriuwung Gajerrong Yirrgeb Noong Dawang Aboriginal Corporation (MG Corporation) was established in 2006 to receive and manage the benefits transferred under the OFA to the MG People, who are recognised under Australian law as holding Native Title over large areas in the North of Western Australia’s east Kimberley region.

MG Corporation seeks to achieve a healthy, wealthy, and culturally strong MG community. MG Corporation supports evidence-based social and community development projects that generate positive social and economic outcomes for MG people.

The Kununurra Youth & Family Support Project is a 6-month pilot program supporting identified street-present youth and their families to access safe and secure living environments and to develop positive life skills and choices.

The Position

The Youth & Family Support Case Manager will provide professional support, guidance, and case coordination to young people and their families who have been identified as at-risk or in need by the Kununurra Youth Patrol Community Support Workers Patrol. 

The Case Manager will work in a team environment to connect with youth and families to provide case-managed support and access to services that will improve well-being.

The position reports to the MG Youth Programs Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery:

• Provide tailored support services to identified youth and their families using a culturally safe strengths-based approach and case coordination.
• Work flexibly, on an outreach basis, to provide quality individualised youth and family support incorporating approaches that are: 
  • culturally safe 
  • person centred. 
  • strengths based. 
  • trauma-informed
• Connect youth and family to support services that will assist in improving youth and family safety and wellbeing.
• Contribute to the effective service delivery and data collection of the MG Kununurra Youth Patrol and Family Support Project.
• Lead the Youth & Family Support team and collaborate closely with the Youth Patrol Team to deliver effective service delivery and support for youth and their families.
• Participate in meetings and training that contribute to the overall success of the team and organisation. 

Service Collaboration:

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key youth services and stakeholder agencies to identify and enable an effective response to young people at risk.
• Participate in strategies to increase the safety of young people in the community.
• Provide strong advocacy for young people with stakeholders. 
• Work respectfully and in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in emergency management and response duties as required.
• Participate in training and supervision sessions as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

Selection Criteria

Essential

• Demonstrated experience in supporting young people with complex and challenging behaviours.
• Demonstrated experience in working with clients with complex needs, such as people with a disability, drug and alcohol dependency, homelessness, domestic violence, and psychological disorders.
• Demonstrated ability to provide trauma-informed, person-centred, strengths-based case management services.
• Advanced communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, including the ability to engage with young people and their families and implement effective counselling strategies.
• Cert IV Community Services or similar.

Additional Criteria:

• An understanding of contemporary issues within The Kimberley region in the context of community and the community services sector.
• A sense and value for teamwork where you actively and positively engage with fellow staff members and participate in staff meetings.
• Respect for cultural protocols within as well as outside of the organisation.
