Summary
The primary purpose of the Accounts Assistant role is to provide support to the Accountant and the Finance function including accurate and timely reporting for Accounts Payable mainly around the automated spend management system (Weel), in accordance with Accounting Standards and Burdekin’s Policies and Procedures.
The role will be full time hours offered as a 12 month contract.

Key Responsibilities
- Review of automated spend management system transactions ensuring valid tax invoices attached and adherence to budget parameters as well as ensuring transactions are correctly processed and allocated in MYOB.
- Liaising with staff regarding transactions and supporting staff with transaction issues.
- Provide support for automated spend management system issues including troubleshooting and liaising with Weel support where needed.
- Manage month end completion process and reconciliation of automated spend management system (Weel).
- Assist with monthly budget reports/variance analysis for Senior Managers.
- Ensure proper records of expenditure and income are maintained.
- Assist in preparing for the annual financial audit process
- Provide backup support for the Accounts Payable function including checking correct General Ledger coding and the processing of invoices and client pocket money for payments in MYOB, consistent with the financial policy budgets and appropriate approvals.
Essential requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or related
- Minimum 3 years of accounting work experience
- Speed, accuracy and efficient data entry skills
- Excellent data processing capability and attention to detail
- Strong MYOB experience or similar accounting software experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent customer service skills
- Current Working with Children Check & National Police Check or willingness to obtain
