- Perform generalist administration functions/tasks including but not limited to:
- Respond to general reception enquiries by answering all incoming telephone calls and ensuring accurate transfer of messages and information to support patients and/or staff.
- Perform secretariat functions for relevant meetings.
- Follow Qld Health recommendations and expectations in relation to managing and maintaining filing systems.
- Assist with patient discharges and transfers when required through timely coordination of all required paperwork, transport and updating of hospital and Qld Corrective Services information systems.
- Contribute to workflow efficiencies of Prison Health Services (PHS) and throughout the Health Service by liaising with a range of staff to coordinate ordering and scanning PHS charts, and processing requests which are received by the PHS Health Information email address.
- Work autonomously, utilising discretion in the absence of decision makers in resolution of conflict, meet deadlines, establish work priorities, organise meetings and appointments.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Sound verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and sensitively with all levels of staff, patients and the general public and to provide an administrative support function to a multidisciplinary team within a health care
- Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills and the ability to work autonomously in a self-directed manner while contributing to patient
- Knowledge of or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of internal information systems in addition to Microsoft Word and
- Knowledge of or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of basic medical terminology to extract and interpret pertinent information from patient medical records and hospital information
- Maintain discretion and exercise judgment where necessary within the scope of your role to solve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been set and procedures not defined, ensuring a satisfactory outcome.
