About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to progress your career and obtain experience working as an Administration Officer in the Specialist Legal and Litigation Division (SLLD) of the Victoria Police Legal Services Department (LSD).
Victoria Police's LSD provides legal services and advice to support policing, courts, and the Victorian Community. The LSD is led by an Executive Director (who is also the organisation's General Counsel) and employs over 800 staff spread across four divisions – the Office of the Executive Director; the Specialist Legal and Litigation Division; the Courts and Prosecution Services Division; and the Legal Business Operations Division.
Positioned within the SLLD, the Employment Law Unit services the entirety of Victoria Police, providing legal advice on a range of employment, industrial and occupational health, and safety issues. The Unit also manages complaints and litigation arising out of the employment relationship, complaints and litigation initiated by members of the public where brought under federal or state discrimination legislation, and litigation involving WorkSafe.
The primary purpose of the Administration Officer - WorkCover Litigation, is to provide administrative assistance to support the effective case management function in relation to all litigation and potential litigation brought under Workers' Compensation legislation.

Your duties will include:
* Providing administrative support, including some case management, on litigated or potentially litigated WorkCover matters
* Effectively identifying, sourcing and coordinating critical documents and witnesses required in litigation
* Effectively liaising with a range of stakeholders including Victoria Police personnel, the Claims Agent, law firms and investigators
* Maintaining a database on the status of matters and providing reports to management as required
* Participating in the ongoing development of the work unit to ensure processes facilitate the efficient and effective management and administration of litigated WorkCover matters.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
* Administration experience, including strong organisation and file management skills (experience in a legal or workers' compensation context desirable)
* Resilience coupled with strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritise competing tasks and to work to strict deadlines
* Well-developed oral and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to source information and documentation outside of own work area's control
* Ability to work with limited supervision, be proactive and be a team player
* Demonstrated experience in operating databases and computerised personnel and/or compensation systems.
Requirements and relevant information:
* One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
* The salary range for a VPS2 role is $56,834 to $72,985 (covering salary ranges VPSG 2.1 and VPSG2.2). Although it is standard practice for selected candidates to commence at the base of the salary range, genuine consideration will be given to a commencement salary within the available range that is commensurate with the successful candidate's knowledge, skills and experiences. This will be subject to negotiations with the Hiring Manager in the course of the selection process and may include the provision of evidence of a higher income and/or supporting documentation (as required).
* This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.

* The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
* As a member of the Legal Services Department, you will be located on selection, at a specific office within a Division for a particular advertised opportunity. However, given occasional legal service demand issues you may be required at times to undertake varied work within the Department.
