Job description

As the Administrator/Manager you will assume responsibility for a small group of accountants in a family business and you will monitor the output of this team and manage the day-to-day business unit. You will be the front face of our organisation and the person responsible for managing the general practice operations and support staff. This is a full time role and you will need to be a well presented and confident candidate to join our team. Men and Women are encouraged to apply.

Accordingly you will need to be:

  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work independently
  • Extremely comfortable dealing in a hectic environment which at times of the year (July-September) entails fielding numerous phone-calls and reception work
  • Competent and highly motivated with a willingness to learn and grow with the role.
  • Willing to be trained in our systems and learn our business way in order to provide efficient support to our team as well as our client base
  • Able to handle and understand the ever-changing electronic environment and its maintenance, including bookkeeping and accounting software, ASIC lodgements and complex client enquiries
  • Committed, passionate and seeking to build a career within our firm
  • Qualified with a certificate IV in business administration or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
  • Experienced in a dynamic and energetic environment
  • Be adaptable and able to embrace change
  • Have the ability to cope with the pressures of the dynamics in a small office environment

You will also need to have:

  • A proven track record in a management/operations background in an accounting firm (or medical). Accounting experience leads to higher remuneration.
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Competence in decision making within areas of responsibility
  • Experience with MYOB, Xero, ATO Portal and Elite modules highly desirable

The main duties and responsibilities are to:

•              Answer internal and external client telephone calls and make appointments

•              Manage work flow, revenue budget, WIP, engagement letters and ATO lodgements

•              Maintain ASIC registers for clients

•              Manage business operations. Including debt collection and find opportunities to develop and market the business

•              Conduct recruitment and performance reviews

•              Maintain, control, assess and review  systems and processes for efficiency 

•              Identify opportunities for improvements in practice procedures and implement, train, reinforce and monitor practice procedures

•              Prepare for and run weekly operations meeting with the Principal

•              Project manage new developments within the firm
