As the Administrator/Manager you will assume responsibility for a small group of accountants in a family business and you will monitor the output of this team and manage the day-to-day business unit. You will be the front face of our organisation and the person responsible for managing the general practice operations and support staff. Accordingly you will need to be:
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work independently
- Extremely comfortable dealing in a hectic environment which at times of the year (July-September) entails fielding numerous phone-calls and reception work
- Competent and highly motivated with a willingness to learn and grow with the role.
- Willing to be trained in our systems and learn our business way in order to provide efficient support to our team as well as our client base
- Able to handle and understand the ever-changing electronic environment and its maintenance, including bookkeeping and accounting software, ASIC lodgements and complex client enquiries
- Committed, passionate and seeking to build a career within our firm
- Qualified with a certificate IV in business administration or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
- Experienced in a dynamic and energetic environment
- Be adaptable and able to embrace change
- Have the ability to cope with the pressures of the dynamics in a small office environment
You will also need to have:
- A proven track record in a management/operations background in an accounting firm (or medical). Accounting experience leads to higher remuneration.
- Experience supervising staff
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Competence in decision making within areas of responsibility
- Experience with MYOB, Xero, ATO Portal and Elite modules highly desirable
The main duties and responsibilities are to:
• Answer internal and external client telephone calls and make appointments
• Manage work flow, revenue budget, WIP, engagement letters and ATO lodgements
• Maintain ASIC registers for clients
• Manage business operations. Including debt collection and find opportunities to develop and market the business
• Conduct recruitment and performance reviews
• Maintain, control, assess and review systems and processes for efficiency
• Identify opportunities for improvements in practice procedures and implement, train, reinforce and monitor practice procedures
• Prepare for and run weekly operations meeting with the Principal
• Project manage new developments within the firm
