About the team and role
It’s an exciting time at SYD Airport as travel is back! The Aviation Campaign Specialist supports the Senior Manager Strategic Airline Campaigns in implementing activities that drive passenger growth for Sydney Airport’s airlines, routes, and destinations. This role sits within SYD’s Aviation Development & Marketing team which leads the airport’s aviation development through attracting new international airlines to SYD, establishing services to new international destinations and growing capacity on existing routes. Your role will be to execute Marketing Campaigns and activations in Australia and overseas to promote new and existing airlines and destinations working closely with the Senior Manager Strategic Airline Campaigns.
We are after an individual who not only has a passion for travel and aviation but also has a track record of delivering end to end Marketing Campaigns and knowing what channels will work to drive passenger demand.
As part of this role, you will work collaboratively with SYD’s content management, social, retail and events teams to leverage Sydney Airport’s channels and capabilities to enhance the aviation campaign program. Aviation campaign initiatives also have a role to play in establishing the SYD brand and reputation amongst partners and consumers as an Australian icon.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Promote airlines, routes and destinations in Australia and overseas to maximise their efficiency and drive the development of new markets for Sydney, supporting SYD’s long-term growth strategy.
- Support the delivery of global campaigns and activations to promote SYD’s existing airlines and routes.
- Assist in the creation of tools to develop key strategic markets which are currently unserved: drive passenger volumes, market share, destination awareness, route profitability.
- Attentively manage relationships with a large range of international airlines, tourism & travel trade, government agencies and other international industry partners.
- Scope, deliver and report on bespoke campaigns targeting selected passenger segments (e.g. in- or outbound, students, corporate, tourism)
- Project manage campaigns end-to-end, comprising all activities and relationships on- and off-shore with airlines as well as media platforms.
- Consistently monitor and optimise campaign progress, track budgets and passenger conversion goals.
- Participate in the strategic planning of the aviation marketing program, cultivate new industry relationships and source proactive campaign ideas.
- Work closely and drive synergies with SYD’s event team and other marketing functions in areas such as,
- Inaugural flight events
- Media planning across SYD’s OOH Media Network
- In-terminal promotional activations
- Publicity and familiarization tours
- Subscriber promotions and giveaways
- Cross-promotion of parking and retail USPs
- Work in a small entrepreneurial team where your skills and knowledge will make an impact.
- Perform general marketing administrative functions such as writing campaign briefing documents, proposal writing, financial administration relating to campaign activity, manage content and manage timelines.
Your background should include
- A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a partnership marketing, campaign management and/or stakeholder coordination role, desirably in the aviation or travel industry.
- Proven experience of developing and leading creative partnership campaigns across various target audiences that engage, educate and motivate
- Working knowledge of the online and offline travel booking funnel including both online user experience and trade distribution system.
- Experience working with the Australian travel trade and travel trade media preferred
- Tourism experience working with international markets preferred
- Experience in working cross-culturally with international stakeholders preferred
