About the role
The Asset Manager leads and manages a range of enterprise-wide facilities operation functions in support of the Facilities and Projects Business Unit. The role works under broad guidelines to initiate, plan, implement, manage and deliver significant Facilities and Asset services in accordance with TAFE SA strategic goals and government policy. The Asset Manager is responsible to oversee high level and professional management of TAFE SA facilities and asset service arrangements, delivered internally and contracted externally. The role encompasses the management and leadership of a team of staff.
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated capacity to identify and analyse tactical and operational issues and think laterally to develop sound approaches to meet the Facilities operational needs of the business.
- Strong management qualities and demonstrated ability to develop others to work as a team to achieve objectives and take a shared responsibility for achieving results.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of effective asset management services in a complex organisation that requires negotiating, developing and monitoring performance and/or service level agreements, contracts or tenders with external service providers, including the AGFMA.
- High level oral, written and interpersonal skills that foster sound working relationships with staff and a range of stakeholders in a climate of continuing change.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of effective asset management decisions encompassing compliance, industry standards, life cycle modelling with an understanding of Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental Sustainability impacts.
- Demonstrated ability to work under broad guidelines, deal with competing demands, manage multiple projects and effectively manage the needs of multiple stakeholders in a complex environment.
- Extensive experience in the application and understanding of Strategic Asset Management Framework principals including related tools, policies, procedures, plans, strategies and information systems aligning to ISO55001.
- If you hold qualifications in Engineering or a Trade, Asset Management, or high-level Project Management this would be considered highly desirable.
Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).
- The Asset Manager must possess or be willing to undertake training to obtain:
- Provide First Aid certificate - HLTAID003 or equivalent
- Fire warden training
- Out of hours work will be required.
- Some intra/interstate travel and overnight absences may be required.
- Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Development Program.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
- It is an ongoing condition of employment for all employees whose employment is subject to a Health Direction/site requirement, including but not limited to an Emergency Health Direction, that they are fully compliant with the requirements of the relevant Directions in order to perform their duties. This will also include but not be limited to: COVID 19.
- TAFE SA employees are bound by the Code of Ethics for the South Australian Public Sector.
