Group Assistant Accountant – Contract Role

Based in Sydney, we are looking for a highly skilled and passionate Assistant Accountant who will be responsible for working part of the Aurora’s Head Office Finance team to assist with a wide range of finance and accounting tasks in a fast paced and multi hierarchical environment.  Reporting to the Group Accountant, this role will proactively assist with daily bank reconciliation, month end processing and reporting in a timely manner as well as processing payment to some key vendors, such as ATO, State Office Revenue, etc. This role is also required to support the Finance managers at the hospitals. 
 

Key Responsibilities

• Daily banking reconciliation
• Cashflow planning and tracking the daily cash spending
• Processing payments to key vendors such as ATO, State Office Revenue, Superannuation Funds etc
• Cash receipting associated with sublet income
• Assisting the reconciliation of corporate credit card spending
• Assisting in the End of Month processing particular in the preparation of the accrual journal for approval by the Group Financial Controller
• Assisting the Group Financial Controller with PAYG, Payroll Tax and Superannuation reconciliation
• Preparing cost recharges between the entities as well as the entities within the Joint Venture
• Assisting the Group Financial Controller with banking administration tasks
• Assist with ad hoc projects as required
• Participating in the improvement of Microsoft Dynamics 365 specifically the ExFlow System
• Liaise with Hospital finance & admin staff
• Assist in the annual statutory audit process with the external auditors by providing banking samples, bank statements etc
• Ad hoc tasks when required.

Qualifications & experience

• Demonstrated experience in assistant accounting role
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce high quality work in a fast-paced environment
• Competent computer skills including Intermediate Excel skills. This is a must requirement
• Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates a customer focused mindset
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team displaying a ‘can do’ attitude
• Ability to multi-task when required
• Proven commitment to professional development and quality improvement
• Open honest approach with the ability to maintain confidentiality information
• Strong business acumen and interpersonal skill
• Knowledge of Dynamic 365, JIRA would be advantageous
• Possess an Australian higher education and qualifications.
