ABOUT THE BRANCHData Governance and Analytics Branch is responsible for enterprise data governance for Finance and provides data-based insights to inform Finance’s advice on government expenditure, program delivery and operations. The Branch manages requests for Finance’s data under the Data Availability and Transparency Act 2022 and data governance policies and manages a range of whole-of-government expenditure policy and frameworks. The Branch also provides analysis and advice on program estimates and other expenditure trends, and coordinates and contributes to a range of key Budget products.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYThe
Assistant Director of the
Budget Analytics team will lead analysis to improve the evidence base for briefing Government on future spending decisions. The successful candidate will need to establish credibility and trusted expertise, be an emerging leader with strong stakeholder engagement, capability to build data literacy and proven staff management skills.The team interprets and presents policy insights through written and visual products for a diverse audience (including Ministers and the Expenditure Review Committee). The role involves conducting responsive policy analysis, providing data-based insights and verifying costings and other policy models. The team investigate policy assumptions and impacts using integrated Commonwealth microdata assets and other contextual datasets. The
Assistant Director will work closely with Finance’s Agency Advice Units and other Government agencies to build networks, access data and analyse key policies and programs. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
- This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing. Roles may be offered as either ongoing or non-ongoing subject to operational requirements. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 12 months. Specified term vacancies may be extended up to a maximum period of 18 months.
