As the Backcountry Coordinator, you will be charged with the development and training of our backcountry team and the coordination of the backcountry touring program. The Backcountry Coordinator will lead Thredbo Guides to provide exceptional winter experiences, showcasing Thredbo’s amazing backyard to our guests. In this role you will support the development of new products and continually revise the program to develop any new potential.
These ski, snowboard and snowshoe experts specialise in providing experiences off the beaten path and revel in showcasing the raw natural beauty of the Australian Main Range to adventure seekers. These highly trained snow explorers know the importance of backcountry safety skills and respect Mother Nature’s playground.

If you’re up for an exciting opportunity to:
- Facilitate program coordination, program revision, offering development and team training
- Undertake emergency response planning, practice, revision and training
- Upkeep programs equipment maintenance, including relevancy and training
- Manage a group to ensure all guests have a safe and exceptional backcountry experience
- Show expert riding ability and several years of backcountry snow experience and sharing it with guests
- Safely negotiate all types of snow conditions in adverse weather
- Navigate confidently via local knowledge, map and compass, and electronic aids
- Interact and be understanding of our diverse range of guests
… with your experience and skills in:
- Alpine Touring/Backcountry Guiding Experience
- Cert III in Outdoor Recreation/Outdoor Leadership
- Minimum 2 years guiding experience
- Avalanche Safety:
- CAA AST1
- First Aid:
- Wilderness First Aid | 80 hours
- ASPI level 2, or equivalent – snowboarding or skiing
- NSW Working with Children’s Check
- Highly Regarded
- CAA Companion Rescue Skills
- CAA Operations Level 1
