Salary: UOM 5 - $83,159 - 95,518 p.a. (pro rata for part-time) plus 17% super

About the Role
Join our dynamic team at the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, supporting groundbreaking research in the Brain and Mental Health Hub (BAMH). As the Academic Research Grant Support and Engagement Assistant, you'll collaborate with Hub members on major grant submissions and provide administrative support for events and initiatives. Reporting to Hub Director Dr. Trevor Steward, you'll play a vital role in advancing research and fostering engagement within the BAMH community.Your responsibilities will include:
  • Retrieving publication and author metrics from online journal databases (e.g. SciVal, Scopus, Altmetrics, Google Scholar) for grant proposal documents
  • Working closely with researchers to create graphs and figures that display scientific results, or convey important information.
  • Assisting Hub members in navigating the “Sapphire” and “RMS” Research Grant Management System. Tasks include manual data entry to update track record information and career overview information in line with grant scheme requirements.
  • Providing direct updates and reminders to Hub members on internal and external grant deadlines and milestones.
  • Innovating, planning, organising, and promoting BAMH hub, seminar series, workshops and other activities and events that raise the profile of BAMH.
Who We Are Looking For
You will be an ideal candidate if you showcase familiarity with Australian research grant schemes, exceptional organisational and communication skills, and a keen interest in research funding. They exhibit a high level of independence and initiative, proficiency in MS Office programs, and strong interpersonal skills, with a willingness to adapt and learn. Experience in a research environment, producing research outputs, event management, or finance support is desirable.You will also have:
  • An undergraduate degree in psychology, or related discipline
  • Strong interest in working in a research environment and becoming more familiar with research funding.
  • Strong ability to work with MS Office programs (and their Google equivalents), especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and Zoom/Teams, along with a willingness to learn more when necessary
