About the Role
This role sits within the Events steam of Experience Gold Coast and more specifically the Business Events, Gold Coast brand. Utilising global benchmarks and standards to ensure best practice, the key goals of the Business Events team are to position the Gold Coast as a desired destination for conference and incentive business, to increase business events visitation and expenditure, to increase business events market share, and to generate commensurate returns from capital investment for members.
Reporting into the Bid Development Manager, this position is primarily responsible for identifying, qualifying, and securing business opportunities and leads in allocated industries. Leads may be secured via attendance at business events and trade shows (nationally and internationally), through relationships with ambassadors or other key city stakeholders, or from research. This role is highly collaborative and requires exceptional stakeholder engagement, account management, and customer service skills plus a passion for the Gold Coast and the Business Events industry.
Key Tasks of the Position Include:
- Development of commercial strategy for identified industry segment including measurement and reporting of results,
- Identify and qualify business opportunities,
- Target key sources of business events leads from corporate, PCO's, associations, government, and BE trade trade,
- Prepare destination proposals,
- Secure local support for bids where required,
- Host site inspections, famils, and co-operative events in market
- Collaborate effectively with key internal and external stakeholders to maximise impact and optimise opportunities
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 2-3+ years previous sales experience in the tourism or business events industry,
- Knowledge of the business events distribution system,
- Demonstrated experience in Association bidding both domestically and internationally,
- Proven record of accomplishment in developing commercial plans to target and identifying new business opportunities
- High level organisational and planning skills,
- High level interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills,
- The ability to develop and maintain strong industry and marketplace relationships.
This role is open for candidates to work remotely from Sydney or Melbourne or hybrid work for candidates based in Gold Coast or Brisbane.
