The Opportunity

Play a pivotal role in driving business outcomes of initiatives through insightful analysis, holistic thinking, and effective collaboration with cross functional teams.  The Business Analyst reports to the Business Analyst Team Leader.  In this critical role you’ll work collaboratively with solution design, business, and technical teams, to enable solutions that meet business requirements and outcomes. Ensuring that current and future state analysis informs impacts to systems, processes and people and helps drive change. The role will require you to develop knowledge of Vocus Products, Processes and Systems and contribute to the knowledge development in the BA function an includes extensive engagement with stakeholder groups within Vocus, from both technology and business teams.  

Within each Mission the Business Analyst will take direction from the lead senior Business Analyst on initiative deliverables delivering high quality outcomes in a timely manner aligned to the BA framework.   

What you’ll be doing day-to-day

  • Establish a stakeholder engagement strategy for business analysis to set clear expectations and collaborate with project and change management as needed.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to evaluate business objectives and deliver essential discovery outputs, such as business context, current and future state analyses, and gap analysis. Ensure these insights guide the prioritization of initiatives.
  • Provide sufficient input from analysis to inform decision making on the prioritization of initiatives.  
  • With support from Senior/Lead or Principal BAs, develop the BA approach and identify the BA tools, techniques, and deliverables that will be required for an assigned initiative.  
  • Elicit, document, and validate a common understanding of detailed business requirements and work with business and technical teams to breakdown initiatives into customer/end-user focused components/functionality that have business value (Features) (supported by a Lead/Senior BA where required)  
  •  Develop user and functional requirements (user stories) and validate if solutions meet these requirements.   Perform current and future state analysis to identify gaps, inform solution design and help develop solutions that meet business needs and/or improve business processes. (Business Process Design)  
  • Ensure that impacts to technical and business operations due to change are analysed, understood, and articulated, risks are assessed and raised with project management.   Support the development, refinement and prioritization of technical requirements/stories when required, working with technical/functional analysts and/or developers.  
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholder groups, serving as a liaison point to ensure clear understanding of business needs, objectives, and requirements and faithful representation of these when collaborating with other teams.  
  • Utilize BA tools and techniques to apply to BA deliverables, representation and documentation of BA outputs.  Utilize analytical tools and techniques to extract actionable insights from data sets.
  • Enable user acceptance testing planning, coordination, and support testing activities.  Work with change management/project management to enable technical and business operational handover activities.  
  • Create user guides, process documentation, and support training material as needed. Monitor and report on business analysis activities, risks, and dependencies. Serve as a subject matter expert for business analysis, ensuring consistent, high-quality outcomes. 

What you’ll bring to this role

  • Solid experience (min 5+ years’ experience) as a Business Analyst or Senior BA in projects/programs is essential and 2 years Telecommunications sector experience coupled with experience using Lucid or Visio and process mapping techniques such as BPMN, context diagrams, customer journey mappings. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of both business and technical requirements in projects/programs, providing solutions effectively.  
  • Ability to execute responsibilities of the role proactively and hands on experience developing visual representations, at various levels of detail for varied audiences.  
  • Experience with Telecom value chain processes (Sales, Delivery, Assurance, Billing).  
  • Experience working with platforms such as Salesforce, ServiceNow or similar CRM, Billing, Digital platforms.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops involving a variety of Business and IT stakeholders and proven ability to manage and prioritise conflicting demands.   
  • Ability to learn and adapt and operate with an Agile BA mindset and Agile BA tools and techniques.
