The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Business Development Manager to join our Energy Solutions team in Perth CBD office on a Permanent Full Time basis.
Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will play a key role in providing APA with a deep understanding of electricity markets on Australia’s west coast, identifying power opportunities, and securing new capital investments, focused on renewable and thermal generation in the resource industry.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our customer’s (both new and existing) energy needs through extensive relationship building and maintenance; be the accountable relationship manager for defined strategic customer; develop and execute customer engagement plans for key accounts
Lead opportunities through various stakeholders from origination through to full project documentation capable of achieving final investment decisions; lead the development of power solutions with various stakeholders to market those solutions to customers
Work with Infrastructure Delivery (and other internal stakeholders) to generate engineering concepts, cost estimates and construction schedules to inform commercial offers to customers
Work with Finance to generate necessary financial and commercial evaluation of opportunities and proposals
Develop and deliver well formulated proposals and or investment opportunities to customer’s tenders as well as APA’s investment governance forums including the Executive, Investment Committee and Board
Coordinate the handover of completed Business Development activities to Operations
Your background
A tertiary qualification in engineering, business, law or a relevant technical discipline and experience in the power industry
Substantial knowledge of energy markets in WEM and off-grid power (PPA) market
Proven experience in developing and managing winning large-scale projects, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
An inquisitive nature, an inbuilt business acumen for seeking value and a deal origination mind set; experience executing a range of commercial analysis activities and/or commercial transaction management support
Proven stakeholder management skills both internally and externally, well-developed negotiation skills with a win-win mind set
