The role:
Reporting into the State Manager, the Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for managing our existing base of outlets, providing our members with business solutions and services and also acting as the “face” of LMG within. You will also be responsible for negotiating and executing strategic business plans in relation to products and promotions, identifying local opportunities and developing initiatives to drive sales and profitability.
There will be frequent travel regionally to member sites, with occasional multi-night stays to complete projects and provide support to members.
More specifically in this role you will:
- Be the member expert, share knowledge and understanding of member strategies & tactics
- Provide guidance to members on effective marketing initiatives
- Stay in regular contact with members regarding performance and opportunities at hand, developing and maintaining positive and effective relationships.
- Develop and execute joint business plans for members.
- Deliver on core ranges, programs and National/State based products.
- Identify local market opportunities and develop initiatives to increase and retain members in new market opportunities.
- Contribute to actively growing the profitability of the state through new member recruitment
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- At least 2 years’ experience in an account management or Business Development role ideally within the retail or FMCG industry
- Knowledge of Category Management principles
- Tertiary qualification in related field.
- Hold a full unrestricted driving licence
- Ideally hold a current RSA, or the ability to obtain
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian retail account management
- Demonstrated ability to think commercially
- Proven experience in building client relationships and influencing stakeholders.
- Strategic planning skills in order to develop initiatives (sales drivers) to achieve targeted results
