Job description

A unique, newly created opportunity for a Business Development Manager (BDM) specialising in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Groups at the prestigious Smiths Beach Resort, a proud member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. This role is a newly created role and you have the opportunity to put your personal mark on this position. Suited to a professional with experience in customer relationships and driving sales within the corporate and MICE sectors. You will work closely with our Resort Manager, Sales & Marketing team and other key stakeholders to elevate the hotel's profitability and enhance its brand value.

About the Role:

  • Engage in proactive sales activities, including sales calls, face-to-face presentations, hosting clients, and attending networking events to attract new business across various industries.
  • Manage the end-to-end booking process to ensure a high-quality experience for clients. This includes responding to enquiries promptly, developing proposals, contract generation, supporting clients while on-site and related administrative work
  • Liaise with restaurant and tourism partners to build group experiences seamlessly.
  • Develop strategic plans to meet sales targets and expand our customer base, backed by thorough market and competitor analysis.
  • Provide regular activity reports and participate in weekly revenue and Sales & Marketing meetings.
  • As we are a small team at Smiths Beach Resort this is a hands-on role and you will be required to support the team in our daily Hotel operation.
  • This position is based at the Resort, working Monday – Friday 9-17:30 with weekend work as required. We are unable to offer remote work.

About You:

  • A dynamic individual with local market knowledge and at least 2 years of experience in the hospitality or events sector.
  • A proven track record of exceeding sales targets with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of effectively articulating our value proposition.
  • A deep understanding of product positioning and competitive differentiation.
  • Experience using RMS desirable.
  • This role may require you to travel domestically and internationally
  • Full and unrestricted Australian working rights are essential.
