About the job
SA Water’s Technology Category Team are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic person to join their team. The role will report to the Category Manager Technology.
The Category Officer will be required to manage low to medium value/complex procurements. The role will include, working under the guidance of the Category Lead negotiating rates, terms and conditions whilst also supporting the business with their procurement requirements.
About the Person
As a Category Officer you will present with the ability to apply strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, professionalism, negotiation and relationship management skills on all multi-stakeholder and multi-disciplinary levels. Relevant technical skills include some history working within procurement, supply chain management, contract management, and supplier relationship management within large organisations.
Demonstrating a knowledge of supply markets, demand management approaches, category management strategies, you will provide intelligence and advice to key business units. Applying this knowledge and ability, the Category Officer will demonstrate experience in all sourcing and extension processes, prepare relevant plans, recommendation reports, obtain all approvals and ensure contract finalisation and execution.
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
- Contribute effectively to the team, ensuring efforts align with Supply Chain initiatives and Business Plans
- Support development of category management plans and category action plans
- Professionally manage supply chain interactions to maximise value to SA Water business objectives
- Lead detailed spend analysis, stakeholder consultation and benchmarking for specific sub-categories that drive SA Water’s business performance
- Delivery of category management across low/medium value/complexity subcategories
- Ensure maximum value to SA Water through benchmarking and market/spend analysis
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers
Your success in this role will come from:
- Formal tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Law, Commercial or other relevant Qualifications i.e., MCIPS or equivalent working experience (desirable)
- Demonstrated procurement and supply chain experience (essential)
- Advanced written/verbal communication, relationship building, research and analytical skills (essential)
- A collaborative approach, with an ability to work both autonomously and with a wide variety of key stakeholders and business partners (essential)
- Intermediate MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook skills (essential)
