A little history about Jewish Care
Jewish Care Victoria, is a not-for-profit organisation and is one of the largest providers of aged and community services for the Jewish Community in Victoria and has been servicing the community for 175 years. Our staff come from all cultural and religious backgrounds, and we provide cultural and spiritual training in the Jewish Ethos.
What you will do
- Maintaining the Food Safety Program guidelines
- Ensuring all staff in catering department maintain safe food handling practices
- Preparation, presentation and serving of high-quality meals and refreshments that meet client’s individual needs
- Adherence to Standardised menus and plans for meals, ensuring provision of choice for clients.
- Liaise with the wider care team to ensure clients are provided with meals that meet both their dietary requirements and texture specific needs.
- Coordinate resources efficiently and effectively including stock control, following Cleaning Schedules, periodic maintenance schedules, and maintenance of food services equipment.
- Overseeing tasks and duties allocated to food services staff in line with their qualifications and/or experience.
- Monitor, and develop staff on a regular basis, including “on the job” coaching.
What you will bring
- Relevant Industry Training – Certificate III or IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)
- Community and Health Services - Food Safety Supervisor Certification
- Relevant experience working in residential aged care, or health setting along with an understanding of and sensitivity to the issues related to providing services to older people.
- Previous experience and working knowledge of menu planning, ordering, special diet preparation and staff management.
- Well-developed prioritization and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to operate with discretion and to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Current police clearance and Statutory Declaration that does not preclude working in Aged Care
To be successful you require
- Previous experience as a Chef preferably in the Aged care sectors
- Food Handlers Certificate
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communicate skill
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent ‘can do’ attitude
- Ability to identify and resolve problems
