About the role

Due to growth across the selectability footprint, we are seeking a Child Safety Operations Advisor who will be responsible for developing, leading and coordinating multiple programs with a focus on Child Safety. The Child Safety Operations Advisor will work closely with the General Manager of Child Safety to ensure the success of the programs.

Main duties

The Child Safety Operations Advisor’s key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver a high standard of client service to all stakeholders; contribute to review, assessment and evaluation of service delivery and promote best practice and achieve key performance indicators for the Child Safety Program
  • Provide child-centred, best practice and evidence based advice to inform risk management planning and critical incident reporting
  • Provide coaching, training support and professional development to care teams to ensure record keeping in congruent with organisational and legislative practices
  • Provide reports, business plans and recommendations pertaining to the provision of out of home care services and growth opportunities
  • Support and conduct reviews of standard of care investigations in partnership with all stakeholders
  • Establish and facilitate a community of practice, which contributes to agile and robust care provision to Child Safety service delivery
  • Identify potential risks and hazards in the working environment and the ability to implement strategies to mitigate such risks
  • Maintain professional knowledge and continue to develop knowledge and expertise in relation to professional skills, legislative and regulatory requirements.
About you

To be successful in this role you must:

  • Possess an extensive understanding of the Child Protection industry and the requirements of the Child Protection Act and Child Protection Regulation
  • Posses a child-centred and strengths-based practice framework to support work with children and families, such as a Therapeutic Crisis Model of Care
  • Child Safety Residential Care experience (highly desirable)
  • Understand the requirements of diverse communities, including but not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse and LGBTIQA+ backgrounds
  • A passion for mental health across regional Queensland 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A commitment to best practice
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment and prioritise your workload efficiently
  • Most importantly… a positive attitude

You must also hold:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work/Psychology or Behavioural Science qualification and/or relevant experience
  • Hope & Healing (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • A Positive Notice Working with Children (Blue Card)
  • NDIS Worker screen clearance, or Yellow Card Exemption 
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You' completion certificate (visit https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au to access this free module)
  • Full Queensland drivers licence
  • Roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance
About the offer
