Job description
The successful candidate will perform simple to complex pre-analytical activities as required. Aditionallly, you will comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position, including the Department of Health Code of Conduct, contemporary human resource management requirements and practices, such as Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Control, Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Policy.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
* Demonstrated experience in working in a busy, diverse laboratory role.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and without supervision.
* Proven ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and with members of staff.
* Demonstrated ability or ability to quickly learn to utilise Laboratory Information Systems and ieMR
* Demonstrate above average attendance and punctuality.
* A demonstrated commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
* Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of, procedures policies and regulations which impact on the position, the Department of Health Code of Conduct, and a knowledge of contemporary human resource management issues such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and antidiscrimination.
Qualifications, registrations, and other requirements
* While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Pathology Assistance or the equivalent would be highly regarded.
* The position will become continuous shift, in that working day, afternoon, and overnight shifts plus public holidays, across a 7-day period will be required.
* Some overtime may be required.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements
* It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
* Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
* Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
