COMPANY OVERVIEW:
AMA College is the Registered Training Organisation of the Australian Medical Association (WA) inc, supporting both domestic and international students through access to a broad range of qualifications, including aged, disability, mental health, health leadership and nursing.
AMA College is home to a Clinical Skills simulation and practice lab that has been set up to mimic real hospital environments. A Briefing area (where we start and finish the class) opens onto a clinical space furnished with patient beds and a wide variety of medical equipment.
- Under general supervision, assists in providing services offered through the nursing Skills Laboratory and nursing simulation.
- This position involves preparation and breakdown of nursing skills-based simulations, maintaining the Skills Laboratory supplies, manikins, and equipment, and performing related duties as required by the Head of Discipline.
- Assist with technical and audio/visual support and running healthcare simulation scenarios including equipment, manikins, and standardised patients.
- Evaluate laboratory and simulation equipment functioning and report issues of wear and tear, safety, and malfunction to the Head of Discipline
- Help to maintain records of all holdings in the Nursing Skills Laboratories.
- Ordering of consumables, supplies, and equipment for the skills/simulation laboratories.
- Assist with the preparation of clinical files, task trainers and all associated resources for each session under the guidance of the Head of Discipline
- Participate in College meetings as needed.
- Other responsibilities to support the Diploma of Nursing team as directed from time to time.
- Obtaining quotes and information for the procurement of clinical equipment under the supervision of the Head of Discipline
Essential to the role:
- Attention to detail and a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Physical tasks such as moving manikins and lab equipment are a requirement of this position.
- Knowledge of medical terminology or experience in healthcare is an advantage but not essential.
- Demonstrates excellent organisational skills.
- Demonstrate ability to think critically, troubleshoot and take action to resolve issues.
- Ability to work under own initiative.
- Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, including a capacity to work collaboratively.
- Excellent proficiency in Word & Excel.

- Ingenuity and attention to detail for simulating the intricacies of the clinical environment
