  • Challenge yourself to develop and drive strategic sourcing solutions to mitigate commercial and operational risks across one of Qantas’ largest costs, Fuel and ATM charges.  
  • Take the opportunity to join our Commercial Airports, Fuel & Leasing team where you will lead a small team of commercial analysts
  • 12M Fixed-Term role based at our Corporate Campus in Sydney

    As the Commercial Manager (Fuel and Air Traffic Management), you are responsible for leading key sourcing activities across Fuel and Air Traffic Management to ensure the most cost effective outcomes for the Qantas Group.    

    Your role will ensure appropriate strategies are developed to set out how Qantas will approach the procurement of Fuel to deliver value in the short, medium and  longer term.  You will also be responsible for the execution of the strategy and associated approvals and contracts execution.   A key component of your role will also be developing, managing and maintaining Supplier Relationships and key internal stakeholders.

    Leading a team of Commercial Analysts, you will be a client relationship lead, with the ability to manage complex internal business relationships and external Suppliers. This will require advanced negotiation expertise as well as excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.

    You’ll have –

  • 5 + years fuel industry, strategic sourcing or commercial experience
  • Advanced influencing, communication and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to: influence and convince stakeholders, build effective business relationships with diverse groups of people, influence at all levels within the business; and Lead complex negotiations 
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrable ability in: running cross functional projects/teams, delivering outcomes in a time sensitive environment, Managing change, and Project Management
  • Management experience in an operational environment with significant people management responsibility
  • Demonstrated people and leadership skills including employee development, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement philosophy
  • Commercially focused with the ability to correctly assess the impact of decisions on business outcomes
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Proven track record of achieving KPI targets
  • Proven record of successfully managing change and implementing continuous improvement activities
  • Demonstrated commitment to managing a safe workplace
  • Working knowledge of industrial relations practices and human resources policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of industrial relations practice and human resources policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Aviation Legislation requirements
