About the team
The Monash & Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre conducts clinical research projects with a focus on translation into clinical practice and the development of new treatments for people with serious mental illness. MAPrc has approximately 65 staff and post graduate students and is based at 607 St Kilda Road, Melbourne. The centre has over 25 active projects in a range of domains including women’s mental health, brain stimulation and neuroimaging, neuropsychology, psychopharmacology, service evaluation and service delivery research and health outcomes research. The Centre is also host to the Monash University Department of Psychiatry (CCS) and HER Centre Australia (Health, Education, Research in Women’s Mental Health). The combined department conducts research, clinical trials, medical student teaching, clinic care in women’s mental health, and education via online courses, conferences and events.
About the role
The Communications Project Officer provides leadership and expertise in communicating and promoting the work and messaging of the Department to the general public, supporters and key stakeholder of the Department. The position works closely with Department executive staff to enact strategic priorities of the Department to enhance its reputation and awareness. The role will manage social media accounts and content, website content, production of newsletters and reports, department events and conferences.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Associate degree or certificate qualification with relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and experience.
- A demonstrated capacity to work in a collegiate and co-operative manner with other staff in the workplace
- High level skills and expertise using a variety of software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel email and the internet.
- Sound organisation skills and a willingness and ability to manage constant interruptions to work flow and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proven ability in completing tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ability to use initiative to seek solutions to problems and make recommendations.
Desirable
- Knowledge and or experience of hospital systems.
- Knowledge and or experience of working in a University and/or research environment
