About the opportunity
International House is seeking a dynamic experienced Alumni, Events & Scholarships Officer. A full-time role under the direction of the Director CEO is responsible for maintaining and strengthening the relationship between International House stakeholders: alumni, donors, Rotary, current residents, and the UQ community. The role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to proactively engage utilising database, communication, events, and recognition.

On-campus living at International House (IH) provides 240 residents with more than just university accommodation and meals. It is a relaxed, green, and safe environment where students from Australia and abroad study and live together. IH offers everything you need to succeed including catering, free academic support, organised social, cross-cultural, and cultural events.
IH’s unique culture of friendship helps our residents make the most of their university time rather than worrying about being lonely, having to cook, travelling to and from campus and missing out on valuable friendships and opportunities. Residents who live at IH make friends and connections for life with fellow students from over 40 countries from around the globe. On average our student age is closer to 20 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive stakeholder relation program.
- To design and implement an annual program of events and activities.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date alumni database,
- Create and distribute regular communications.
- Develop and implement strategies to solicit alumni support, including sponsorships, volunteering, mentoring, guest speaking opportunities, and career development initiatives.
- Coordinate and support regional alumni chapters.
- Manage the alumni relations budget

- Knowledge of fundraising principles and strategies

- Familiarity with current trends and best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as communications, marketing, or public relations.
- At least 3 years of experience in alumni relations, fundraising, or related fields, with a track record of success in developing and executing strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing staff, volunteers, or committees.
- Knowledge of higher education, colleges, or nonprofit environments, including an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in engaging alumni within these contexts.
- Familiarity with alumni relations software and CRM systems.
