Status: Full Time Permanent
Salary: $94,142 - $104,229 p.a. + 11% superannuation contribution

About Us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.
About the Opportunity
As the Community Development Officer, you will be responsible for the establishment and coordination of Apunipima’s community engagement strategy and processes to support the role of Health Action Teams and the development and monitoring of community health plans.
Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications (or working towards obtaining qualifications) in Community Development or Human Services is desirable, however, not essential
- Demonstrated experience working in a Community Development role
- Ability to support the development of community plans including sourcing and providing data and information to community members and groups
- Previous experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island people in a remote or rural setting
- Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Card) positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
