About the role
Sydney Water’s infrastructure delivery requirements are expanding to meet the needs of the Greater Sydney Region. These large-scale, complex programs require exceptional people to help ensure the successful delivery of a significant, high-profile capital works program.
Reporting to the Major Projects Contract Manager, and supporting Major Projects Senior Contract Administrators, you will:
- Support in the administration of contracts on the projects assigned to you.
- Facilitate the Early Warning process and Early Warning meetings.
- Support the Compensation Event process in line with SW Delegations Manual and the Contract Management Manual. Liaising with wider project team (Project Manager, Engineers, and Project Controls) to inform recommendations when reviewing Compensation Events.
- Support pricing reviews, contract re-negotiation, supplier performance reviews, and the resolution of supplier performance matters.
- Input into monthly reporting for allocated Major Projects.
- Support project risk review workshops and updating of the risk register where required.
- Assist project team in developing strategies for dealing with contractual issues and Compensation Events as they are raised. Consulting with Legal, Insurance & Compliance, and Project Controls to prepare the necessary documentation.
- Support the processing of final payment claims and issuing of any relevant contractual completion documentation.
This role will provide you with an opportunity to work closely with the Sydney Water Major Projects team and broader business to ensure that Major Projects deliver their intended benefits while adhering to compliance and governance requirements.
About you
You will have prior experience as either a Contract Administrator, Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Officer, or Procurement Officer in high-value, complex infrastructure construction programmes, and have demonstrated experience in contract operations, contract variations and administration, and overall contract governance. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to analyse information and identify potential risks and issues.
You should have:
- A relevant degree qualification (e.g. Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Law, or Engineering) or experience deemed equivalent.
- Contract and commercial management experience in construction and infrastructure projects in a large complex organisation, preferably in a similar organisation or industry sector.
- Relevant work experience for Tier 1 / Tier 2 contractor or client side is preferred but not essential.
- Experience in partnering with the business in effective contract and commercial management.
- High level of interpersonal and effective communication skills to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Desired but not essential:
- Professional MRICS or equivalent qualification
- NEC3 or NEC4 experience
