The Opportunity
Silk Logistics has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Corporate Accountant based in Port Melbourne. This role will focus on managing the month-end close process, analysing financial results, fostering stakeholder relationships, and providing comprehensive insights through KPI reporting and ad hoc analysis to ensure accurate and informed decision-making from a group perspective.
This Role will include:
- Assist with the month-end close process, ensuring that the aggregated weekly results materially align to the final monthly result.
- Ongoing maintenance of the group leasing portfolio adherence to the relevant accounting standards and group accounting policies.
- Support the maintenance of the General Ledger and Subsidiary Ledgers.
- Liaise with external service providers and government agencies including, but not limited to, auditors, tax consultants, ATO, and insurance brokers.
- Maintain the Fixed Assets register including additions, disposals and monthly depreciation etc.
- Prepare monthly Capex report.
- Prepare monthly Balance sheet reconciliations including debtors, AP and other subledgers as required.
- Process monthly journals for accruals, prepayments, provisions, reallocations, etc.
- Supporting the cashflow reporting process.
- Process consolidated BAS lodgements and PAYG monthly instalment payments.
- Support preparation of annual FBT return, PTRS Report, TPAR Report and Group Tax.
- Complete intercompany on-charges and reconciliations.
- Maintenance and reconciliation of the AMEX facility.
- Support leasing calculations and schedules in accordance with accounting standards.
- Process and review bank reconciliations.
- Provide support and leave cover for weekly P&L reporting.
- Calculate Workcover true up and wages declaration in SCL all states.
To be successful in this role you'll have:
- Strong understanding of financial accounting, month end process and financial and tax compliance processes, preferably in an ASX listed environment
- Tertiary degree in Accounting/Commerce, and is CPA/CA (or equivalent) qualified or working towards this qualification
- 2-3 years’ work experience post tertiary study in a commercial operation
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written with an ability to build relationships with stakeholders
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, good judgement showing logical decision making and a hands-on approach
- Proficient computer skills and advanced Excel skills
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing needs and priorities
- Experience in the Logistics/Supply Chain/Warehousing/Distribution Sectors (highly regarded but not essential)
- Experience in Great Plains will be highly regarded but not essential
