The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Development Manager to join us in our Commercial Power team in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne office on a permanent full-time basis.
Reporting to the Head of Renewable Project Development, you will play a key role in managing the development stage of power generation and storage projects, including wind, solar, gas, and BESS assets. Your work will be vital in expanding APA's portfolio through the origination of opportunities, developing these into well-designed projects, and supporting our business development team to deliver robust business investment cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify suitable sites aligned with APA strategy and manage all related prospecting activities, including constraints analysis and rights acquisition.
- Oversee the project management of development activities following established frameworks.
- Strategically assess and prioritise projects based on their risk profiles and commercial potential.
- Manage external consultants and internal service providers to secure approvals, optimise design, and ensure successful grid connection.
- Collaborate with Business Development Managers to craft commercially viable projects that fit within the corporate risk framework and market needs.
- Keep informed about industry developments, regulatory changes, and competitive activities to enhance project positioning and strategy.
Your Background
- Demonstrated knowledge and success in developing energy projects within Australia, specifically in renewable sectors
- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline preferred, though significant relevant experience may substitute
- Strong capabilities in accountability, judgement, risk assessment, and commercial acumen
- Proven ability to lead change, drive continuous improvement, and foster innovation within a team
- Exceptional skills in team building and collaboration across various functional areas.
- Experience with targeted negotiation strategies and a track record of developing new business opportunities
