The role:
Akaysha Energy Pty Ltd has real ambitions of becoming the largest BESS developer in the APAC region particularly in the AU and NZ market. We've developed and are building the largest BESS in the world, and have multiple projects to follow within a short time frame. Our appetite is matched by our partners who are equally committed to rapid growth and match our desire to build upon our pipeline.
You will contribute to Akaysha Energy as a member of the team responsible for cradle to grave development BESS and related renewable project opportunities in Australia and Asia. The Development Manager is the lead in site identification and acquisition, development and approval of the site, OEM and EPC negotiation and overall coordination of all aspects of the project on behalf of Akaysha and our investment partners.
You'll be joining a best in class technical team across market modelling, engineering, commercial offtake and finance and investment.
- Lead by example in the application of the highest WHSE culture, both personally and in all Akaysha projects and activities
- Lead in the identification of green field and brown field sites and opportunities, working with the broader Akaysha team based on key project drivers, markets, co-development partners, third party funding and suitable technology products for the economic development of BESS and associated Renewable Energy projects, working with broader team to build red flag reports, preliminary budgets and preliminary business cases.
- Lead in the development of BESS or related renewable projects in multiple jurisdictions including:
- Acquisition of exclusivity and options on land or project opportunity
- Permitting and statutory approvals including management of consultants for environmental, cultural heritage and technical studies
- Landowner, community and key stakeholder engagement
- Generation connection approvals, including working closely with Akaysha’s Electrical Connection Manager
- Lead with project management and execution plans for the development phase of Projects including taking lead on comprehensive schedules, risk registers and supporting key documentation.
- Coordinate negotiation of OEM and EPC key contracts with input from Akaysha team
- Contribute to the overall business case of BESS projects and assist Director Strategy with development of offtake and revenue agreements and other key operational documents
- Assisting customers, off-takers and investor with project due diligence, preparing documentation and presentations as required.
- Contribute to development and improvement of Akaysha project management tools, policies and procedures.
What you'll bring:
- Must possess a deep understanding of Australian NEM Renewable Energy/BESS development from origination through to handover to construction
- Must have proactive stakeholder engagement and understand nuances of engaging with community, landowners, government, OEMs and consultants
- Able to drive and improve process for continuity and effective interface with other pillars in the business
- Must demonstrate ability to originate new opportunities
- First-class or high second-class degree from a top university in a relevant subject (Engineering, Environmental or Project Management)
- An ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex information
- Strong interpersonal skills, and a great team player
- Self-starter, hunger to learn, ability to deal with ambiguity and able to adapt and thrive in a start-up culture
- Evidence of strong performance in team-oriented environments
- An ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical parties
