Avenue Botany are on the lookout for motivated Disability Services Officers to facilitate Avenue participant’s engagement in social and recreational activities in the community. This full-time role is central to the successful operations of the Avenue Hub.

Fighting Chance designs, builds and scales social enterprises which move the dial for Australians with disability and their family. We work to identify the challenges, hurdles and barriers faced by people with disability in their everyday lives and then design and build sustainable social enterprise businesses to bridge these gaps. ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Disability Services Officer is a critical role, liaising with a variety of stakeholders, providing education and community support for our participants and ensuring superior support in the delivery of our programs and services on a day-to-day basis.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
• Assessing clients' needs and planning, developing and implementing educational, training and support programs
• Interviewing clients and assessing the nature and extent of difficulties
• Monitoring and reporting on the progress of clients
• Referring clients to agencies that can provide additional help
• Assessing community need and resources for health, welfare, housing, employment, training and other facilities and services
• Liaising with community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies and private businesses about community issues and promoting awareness of community resources and services
• Supporting families and providing education and care for children and disabled persons in adult service units, group housing and government institutions
• Supervising offenders on probation and parole
• Assisting young people to solve social, emotional and financial problems
• Preparing submissions for funding and resources, and reports to government bodies and other agencies

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
● A relevant qualification in the disability and/or community service.
● Experience in people management is desirable
● Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders
● Highly developed administrative and organisational skills
● Well-developed written and oral communication skills
● Excellent attention to detail
● Ability to work as part of a team
● Ability to demonstrate an understanding of customer care in a disability service.
● Alignment with the Values of Fighting Chance is essential.

● Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
● Have the right to work in Australia
● Possess or be willing to obtain a current NDIS Worker Screening Check/Working with Children Check
● Possess or be willing to obtain Provide First Aid (HLTAID003)
