About the role
As an Engineering Manager at Selfwealth, you will lead a dynamic engineering team, setting technical standards and guiding the development of innovative digital financial products. You will promote a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and agile responsiveness, ensuring that our web and mobile platforms exceed user expectations in functionality and design.
Key responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Strategy:
- Define and implement advanced technical standards and architectural guidelines, driving consistency and excellence in software development.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise, mentoring the team in advanced software engineering techniques and leading by example in coding and operational best practices.
Agile and Product Development:
- Lead agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups, ensuring a seamless flow of information and decision-making.
- Champion the development and delivery of digital products, focusing on user experience (UX) and mobile-first design, ensuring products are responsive, intuitive, and accessible.
Team Development and Empowerment:
- Develop a high-performing team culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Recruit, mentor, and support engineers, providing career development opportunities and fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
- Maintain robust communication channels with all stakeholders, including product, design, and marketing teams, to ensure product visions are aligned and integrated.
- Translate technical details into business impacts, ensuring that all stakeholders understand project statuses, risks, and opportunities.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Continuously assess and optimize processes to enhance team agility and product quality, utilizing metrics and feedback to guide improvements.
- Lead innovation initiatives, staying ahead of industry trends and incorporating best practices in technology and product development.
What you'll bring
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role within software engineering, with a focus on digital product development (web & mobile).
- Previous experience in identifying and addressing technical challenges, developing innovative solutions, and implementing effective problem-solving strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Experience in thriving in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, remaining flexible, open-minded, and resilient in the face of changing priorities and environments
- Demonstrated experience in agile processes and team management.
- Proven success in delivering complex digital, UX, web, and mobile projects.
- Strong track record of stakeholder management and strategic project alignment.
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
