Due to our rapid growth, we are currently on the lookout for an Estimating Manager.
The Role:
Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely to the Senior Management team you will be responsible for the preparation & submission of tender proposals for national projects. You will have the opportunity to coach and mentor jnr members of staff.
This role is Perth based with regular site visit to mine sites as required. Previous applicants are encouraged to reapply.
The Requirements:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, and working closely with Divisional Managers, your responsibilities will include:
- Review, manage and promote safe working practices at all times.
- Deliver a high level of verbal and written communication skills with trades and NXT staff.
- Speak clearly and fluently, with the ability to avoid creating conflict, effectively navigating high stress situations.
- Prepare and develop accurate cost estimates through carrying out detailed and accurate material quantity take-offs to develop bills of quantities derived from site measurements.
- Provide periodic performance reporting to various levels within the business.
- Assist with preparing and developing construction methodologies, programs and submission documentation.
- Develop estimates from first principles using site productivity rates.
- Prepare risk and opportunity including cost escalation analysis for estimates.
- Review designs and engineering specifications for cost effectiveness and suggest alternatives where applicable.
- Hand over detailed tenders with traceability and support into pre-contracts and delivery.
- Supervision and mentoring of other Estimators assigned to the estimating group.
- Undertake all required training as determined by the business.
- Coordinate team activities and conduct tender cost estimate review meetings.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and maintain positive relationships.
- Contribute to business improvement processes.
- Maintain existing relationships with clients and subcontractors.

Key Skills & Experience:
- Degree/Diploma in engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 Years experience in estimator roles or project engineer role in Civil / Mechanical Remediation scopes within mining & resources sector, including asset preservation, corrosion protection, protective coatings, SMP projects etc
- Awareness of the need to obtain additional information or seek clarification through RFI’s to the Client to ensure a complete set of tender documents.
- Strong interpersonal skills, confidence, professionalism and self-motivation
- A strong financial and commercial acumen.
- High level attention to detail and the ability to work to set timeframes while multitasking.
- The ability to identify new opportunities and ensure a high success rate of team bids.
- Proven ability to meet KPI's and project deadlines.
- Knowledge of the mechanical trade (advantageous).
- Professional, confident and highly articulate, with an innate ability to engage with multiple levels of stakeholders.
- Ability to do site visits to develope SOW for tender.
- Current drivers licence (unrestricted).
