About the Opportunity
Opportunity to join the Office of the Commissioner within the NSW Small Business Commission. The Executive Assistant provides high-level executive and administration services to the Commissioner and leadership team, including diary management, travel, co-ordinating timely responses to requests, reporting as well as identifying and imhe fair treatment of small businesses,
As an advocate for the interests of small businesses the Commission operates a subsidised mediation service to help businesses resolve disputes quickly and efficiently,
The Commissiplementing improvements to administrative processes.
The Executive Assistant works closely with the Executive Officer to ensure operational and statutory requirements are met. The role is varied, busy and exciting – you will be exposed to key government and industry stakeholders, including the Minister’s Office and other Government departments.
About the Team and the Commission
- The Small Business Commission is an independent authority which:
- Provides a central point of contact for small businesses to make complaints about their commercial dealings with other businesses and their dealings with government agencies,
- Facilitates the resolution of disputes involving small businesses through mediation and other appropriate forms of alternative dispute resolution,
- Encourages government agencies and larger businesses to enter into productive working relationships with small businesses,
- Supports toner works with government, industry groups and other stakeholders to reduce red tape and make it easier for small businesses to operate.

Your responsibilities will include
- Being the first point of contact for the Commissioner ensuring optimal use of their time, determining which of the competing priorities need their attention first, exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
- Manage high level correspondence, liaising with stakeholders and acting as the Commissioner’s point of contact.
- Prepare reports and analysis to support decision making.
- Prepare meeting materials for presentation to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage diary appointments, records, travel bookings and correspondence
- Assisting in reviewing and preparation of briefing notes, spreadsheets and other approval documents.
- Ensure agendas and meeting action items are recorded and circulated as directed.
- Monitor, implement and evaluate administrative practices, systems, and procedures to support the delivery of quality outcomes.
About you
- You will have relevant experience providing high level executive support to senior and C-suite executives:
- Confident go getter who thrives supporting Senior Executives
- Ability to manage up and support the Executive Officer to manage a busy workload
- High level verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional time management and prioritisation skills
- Flourishes when faced with problems to solve and tasks to co-ordinate
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and build solid relationships with the broader team
- Balance several high-level stakeholder requests and finish tasks swiftly and effectively.
- Understanding of financial management, procurement and recruitment
- Confidence using various Microsoft Office products and willingness to embrace new technology,
- Experience with SAP
- Knowledge of, or ability to acquire quickly an understanding of government protocols and administration policies, processes and procedures is highly regarded.
