Field Technician - Eva Copper Mine

The Eva Copper Mine is a significant greenfield project for Harmony in Northern Queensland located approximately 90km north-west of Cloncurry. It is planned to be a large copper-gold open pit mine and processing operation with a mine life of at least 15 years. Harmony is the largest gold producer, by volume, in South Africa and owns and operates the Hidden Valley Mine and owns 50% (Joint Venture with Newmont Corporation) of the world-class Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project in Papua New Guinea. These assets are supported by the Harmony SE Asia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.
  
Harmony is currently in the initial stages of assessing and defining the execution phase approach of the Eva Copper project and we are seeking highly motivated and experienced people to join our growing team.  The execution phase will commence with continuation of front-end engineering and design in support of a final investment decision targeted in CY2024. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of building a major greenfield mining operation that will offer employment opportunities across the project life cycle, from project definition and delivery into operations.
  
We currently have a vacancy for a Field Technician to join our team in Cloncurry in North West Queensland.
  
Responsibilities include:

• Commitment to safe operating practices and demonstrated duty of care.
• Ensuring our activities are environmentally and socially compliant.
• Our aim is to find and mine copper so bring ideas to the table.
• Supervise site preparation and earthworks for drilling activities.
• Provide support to the exploration geologists and collect drill-core and RC cuttings as required.
• Maintain and operation of the core shed.
• Processing drill-core for logging and photography/cutting/sampling of drill core. Other analytical techniques including PXRF, magsus as required.
• Supporting field work including rock-chip sampling, geochemistry (soil) programs, and geophysical programs.
• Data recording, some computer literacy required.  

What you will bring to Harmony

• Minimum 2 experience in similar role.
• Proactive safety record of behaviours.
• Open C class manual drivers’ licence.
• Forklift licence would be advantageous.
• The ability to work as an effective member of the team.
• High quality and standard of work, and attention to detail
• Ability to pass full medical (including Drug & Alcohol testing).
• Ability to provide a satisfactory Federal Police check (not required at application stage).

Location
  
This role will be Residential in Cloncurry or DIDO from local communities or FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville to our sites in Cloncurry QLD, with local candidates highly regarded. Our roster is 8 days on, 6 days off.
