At Cobb Lane we handcraft moments to savour, to share. Some are sweet, some are sour, some bitter, and some salty. In our world, they all taste good.
If you are an experienced Finance Manager who specialises in all things numbers and you’d like to join our growing (and delicious!) bakery business based at our HQ in Yarraville, then this is the opportunity for you.
About the Role
We have established a reputation as one of Melbourne’s leading artisan bakeries, providing premium baked goods to the city’s most renowned venues and our own retail stores. Your role will be an integral part of this story.
Responsibilities:
- Monthly Financial reporting (management reports) for three venues
- BAS, IAS, payroll tax, workcover compliance and lodgements
- Liaison with tax accountant for a smooth year end
- Cash flow management and planning
- Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable including debt collection and payments
- Bookkeeping and payroll for approx 60 staff
- Financial data entry and administration
- You'll be solely responsible for the management and execution of all finance related activities outside of annual tax return and annual strategic planning - i.e. it's a hands on role with no one reporting to you
Support:
- Our tax accountant works closely with us and will be a great support for you
- We also have a consulting CFO and business strategist who will be available for mentoring and direction whenever you need
- There's a small management team you'll be joining, and the owners of the business are also actively involved in the day to day and the strategic oversight for the business
About us:
- We're an artisan bakery creating delicious breads and pastries for our three retail venues and a range of wholesale customers across Melbourne
- Our bakery is in the inner West of Melbourne (Yarraville) and we have retail outlets at South Melbourne Market and in Richmond
- We're family owned and run, and we're young, innovative and adaptive
- Many of our team members have been here for many years and that means a lot to us
- Across three venues we have a team of around 60 who you'll interact with on a semi regular basis
- Growth is possible in all of our roles and we look forward to helping our new finance manager grow through mentoring, support and training
- We love making delicious, high quality foods for our customers and delivering old fashioned customer service too
- We're friendly and inviting, even though we're a bougie bakery :)
Your Experience and Skills
- You'll have at least five years experience in a similar role
- Accounting qualifications would be a bonus but not strictly necessary with the right amount of on the job experience
- You'll be comfortable being autonomous in your role - planning out your week and month to get everything done at the right time
- You'll be as comfortable making a debt collection phone call as you will reconciling our Xero bank account
- You'll be able to reconcile our Balance Sheet as well as our Profit and Loss Statement
- Updating our financial reports each month will be something you enjoy doing and love to explain to us
- You'll have experience lodging BAS and payroll reports, and comfortable navigating a 60 person strong payroll and the complexity that brings
- Attention to detail is an absolute must
- Being a kind and courteous team member who enjoys their work is also important to us and our team
Working arrangements
- This is a part time role (0.5 FTE) with flexible working arrangements available by negotiation (within the scope of ordinary working hours)
- We want someone who can manage their own schedule, achieve professional goals while supporting the operational needs of the business.
- Ideally, we would like you on site for as much time as possible to get to know our people and develop great relationships. However, we understand the demands of modern work-life balance, so we are happy to accommodate some flexibility for you to work from home.
Applications close Friday 22 March 2023.
