Finance Manager - Statutory Reporting, Tax And Corporate Risk

About the role:

The Finance Manager - Statutory Reporting, Tax and Corporate Risk will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with financial and taxation regulations, treasury management, in conjunction with managing risks associated with our business operations. This position requires an exceptional understanding of financial reporting standards (IFRS), treasury management, taxation legislation (AUS & NZ) and risk management practices.

A driven finance professional willing to actively participate in team engagement, ad hoc finance projects, leading initiatives and purpose-led Changing Lives Together activities. Primarily focusing on maintaining the risk management conversation, tax compliance and process improvement for of IFRS 16 - Leases.

• Collaborate with external auditors and internal functions to lead the preparation of accurate Statutory Reporting of IFRS 16 - Leases.
• Co-facilitate the preparation and submission of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Proactively identify potential risks or issues in financial reporting and take appropriate measures to address them promptly.
• Monitor and evaluate the Risk Management and Matrix system, reviewing the effectiveness of risk mitigation actions and conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities within the organization and establish comprehensive risk management plans.
• Maintain Delegated Authority (DA) framework, ensuring DAs are consistently applied across the organisation and conduct training where necessary to ensure compliance to policies.
• Management of the Crisis Management Plan and Business Continuity Management Plan, including the preparation, review, and subsequent implementation of any new/or changed plans.
• Assist on effective management of the organisations external insurance policies, including maximising the expertise of Commercial and Group Risk services.
• Monitoring and managing the company's cash flows to ensure there is enough liquidity to meet financial obligations.
• Maintain relationships with banks and other financial institutions to facilitate banking services, negotiate fees, and streamline banking operations.
• Analyse historical cash flows, upcoming payments and receipts, and other relevant data to create cash flow forecasts that help in planning and decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, company policies, industrial relations instruments (e.g. Fast-Food Industry Award (FFIA)) and internal controls, identifying and addressing any potential gaps or deficiencies.
• Develop and enhance internal control procedures to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Educate and train finance and non-finance staff on Statutory Reporting requirements, risk management practices, and internal control procedures.
• Review the preparation of monthly BAS returns, FBT return, and all information required for income tax processes.
• Responsible for the GST Master Data for new items and annual review of existing data in conjunction with other functions (Marketing/IT/Operations)
• Collaborate with Nando's Group Holdings in the review and preparation of tax advice to the internal organisation and external advisors.
• Develop and manager two direct reports.

What you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Further educational qualifications preferred. (e.g. CA, CPA, MBA).
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, treasury, and financial reporting standards (e.g. IFRS 16 Leases).
• Proven experience in statutory and taxation reporting, financial analysis, and risk management.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in financial software and systems. (e.g. Workday, Tableau)
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across departments.
