The Mindarie Regional Council (MRC) is one of Western Australia’s largest waste management authorities assisting its member councils, mainly situated in Perth’s northern corridor. To manage their municipal solid waste for a combined population of about 700,000.
The Role, the Finance Officer is an integral member of the finance team and contributes to the MRC objectives. This position provides financial and administrative support to the business, is accurate and organised, has strong communication skills and possess the ability to work under pressure.
The Salary and Benefits, full time permanent, salary $94k to $98k depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant plus benefits that include:

Qualifications
- Advancement towards an accounting qualification and/or sufficient demonstrated experience to successfully carry out the functions.
Essential requirements:
- Sound inter-personal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet reporting deadlines.
- Ability to prioritise and manage own time.
- Sound knowledge of PAYG, GST and FBT taxation systems.
- Sound understanding of information technology systems.
- Microsoft office skills, proficiency in MS Excel.
- Experience in accounts payable, procurement and the month end financial close process.
- Sound experience with payroll processing and systems.
- Experience with accounting software packages.
- Previous experience in Local Government (desirable).
- Previous experience with the Business Central accounting package (desirable).
The Council maintains a strong Wellness Policy with all staff subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
