Learn more .Current Opportunity – Financial Accountant (Internal Finance)We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join our national finance team at BDO. In this role, you will be an integral part of our growing finance team, offering exposure to see a firm undergoing a new system implementation, internal process reviews and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and automation.Key responsibilities:
- Ownership of the month-end process, preparing and posting journal entries including accruals, prepayments, adjustments, etc.
- Preparation of analysis and commentaries of Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet movement and investigation of variances
- Preparation of timely balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of journals posted
- Assist with preparation of financial statements for statutory reporting requirements and liaison with auditors
- Update and maintain Fixed Asset Register
- Provide support to the AP and AR functions
- Collaborate on various accounting related projects with the wider Finance team
- Working collaboratively with the team to meet deadlines and continually improve and streamline our processes
- 3+ years of experience working in teams responsible for financial accounting and reporting in a complex environment (chartered accounting firm or finance department)
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or similar
- CA/ CPA qualifications (or working towards)
- Experience with Great Plains, Workday and Caseware (preferred but not essential)
- High level of competency in using Microsoft Office tools (esp. Excel and Power Query)
- Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills to work cohesive with stakeholders and team members to deliver results
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, be able to think critically about processes, and identify efficiencies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet strict deadlines
