ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Controller to lead our Finance Department at the College. The commencement date is negotiable, and flexible working arrangements are available to accommodate your needs.

As the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the College's financial stability through comprehensive oversight of financial planning and analysis activities. You will strategize and implement financial policies, ensure regulatory compliance, manage financial risks, and provide strategic guidance to support the College's fiscal well-being and long-term growth. Additionally, you will lead financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation efforts, fostering transparency, accountability, and efficiency across financial operations.

Report directly to the Director of Business and Operations, your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Leadership and mentoring of finance functions
  • Overseeing financial planning and analysis
  • Preparing reporting for management and Board sub-committees
  • Recommending changes to improve financial performance
  • Forecasting future financial performance
  • Financial modelling and benchmarking
  • Identifying efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Managing audits and financial statements
  • Implementing systems and technologies for efficiency
  • Overseeing accounting for College associations

ABOUT YOU

Essential qualifications include a QLD Blue Card, National Police Check clearance, a Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting, and a post-graduate CPA or CA qualification (or working towards it).

Candidates should have significant accounting experience, preferably from within an education setting, expertise in financial modelling and analysis, a track record of motivating teams, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in business management and software like Excel and TASS, an adaptive mindset for change, and strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
