Our client is a well known not-for-profit group, a community focussed organisation with an excellent reputation and a long history of success and growth in the Queensland market. With an exciting outlook for 2024, we are looking for a Brisbane based Financial Controller to take on this key leadership role.
Your Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller will be primarily responsible for overseeing and controlling the accurate and timely financial and accounting functions, including assisting in the development and administration of effective Financial and Accounting practices and processes throughout the organisation.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage monthly reporting and year-end close for accurate financial results.
- Prepare monthly financial reconciliations, reports, and cashflows.
- Assist in annual budget and forecast preparation.
- Prepare annual Audit and Statutory Financial Statements.
- Supervise accounts payable for timely and accurate processing.
- Identify and develop talent through coaching in the Corporate Finance team.
- Lead implementation of controls and processes in Finance.
- Drive modifications and enhancements to existing Finance processes.
- Manage and implement new Accounting standards.
- Assist in Acquisition activities, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration.
- Prepare and lodge financial returns to funding bodies.
- Monitor daily bank balances, reconciliations, and investment of surplus funds.
To be considered for this role you will be CA/CPA qualified with experience in financial management in a complex organisation, including implementing controls. Leadership experience in managing teams is essential, along with a strong understanding of Corporations Law, Fringe Benefits Tax, and GST. Proven expertise in process improvements and finance system implementations is required. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a track record in supervising and developing staff, are necessary. A current Police Screening Certificate is also required.
